Trond Are Berge has been awarded the Jon \u00d8steng Hov Prize in connection with the celebration of what would have been Jon \u00d8steng Hov\u2019s 90th birthday on January 23, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The prize is presented by Bygdapreg<\/em> and is awarded to individuals or organizations who work in the spirit of Jon \u00d8steng Hov, one of Norway\u2019s most well-known nature photographers<\/strong>, and who through photography, storytelling, and other forms of communication help foster knowledge of \u2014 and love for \u2014 the living natural world. After careful consideration of many strong candidates, the jury selected Trond Are Berge based on his long-term artistic work and commitment to nature photography and visual storytelling.<\/p>\n

Jon \u00d8steng Hov (1936\u20132019) was a Norwegian nature photographer, author, and lecturer from \u00c5len in Holt\u00e5len, Tr\u00f8ndelag. Through books, lectures, and his long-running column in the regional newspaper Adresseavisen<\/em>, he played an important role in strengthening the understanding and appreciation of nature in Mid-Norway.<\/p>\n

The award ceremony took place during a public anniversary event that also marked the release of 6,500 newly digitised photographs<\/strong> from Jon \u00d8steng Hov\u2019s archive. The extensive digitisation work was carried out by Trond Arnesen<\/strong>, in collaboration with Gunnerus.no<\/strong>, making a significant part of Jon \u00d8steng Hov\u2019s photographic legacy accessible for future generations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
