Beskrivelse
In the Norwegian mountains, life often begins under demanding conditions. This young reindeer calf was photographed during a cold, windy and snowy day in May 1988, only a couple of hours after birth.
Unsteady on its legs and barely able to control its movements, the calf instinctively searches for its mother’s milk — its first source of warmth, nourishment and security. Despite the harsh conditions, new life emerges every spring across the mountain plateaus, continuing a cycle that has existed for thousands of years.
Created using Trond Are Berge’s Projectography technique, combining photographs of a reindeer calf and its mother, Fanaråken, and the textured surface of reindeer fur into a single layered image.
